SR-91 Improvements PA/ED, RCTC
As a subconsultant to Parsons Brinckerhoff, RMC, Inc. is currently
providing preliminary engineering and project management services,
during the PA/ED phase of this project. The alternatives considered
will increase freeway capacity along SR-91, potentially by the
extension of the 91 Express Lanes to Riverside. Because of
the strict right-of-way constraints, the project team is exploring
creative geometric options to mitigate these limitations. The
improvements are being planned in conjunction with several other
enhancements along SR-91, requiring close coordination with
all involved agencies. The development of this project follows
the recommendations of the planning documents prepared for this
corridor, including the SR-91 Implementation Plan and Riverside
County-Orange County MIS.
This project represents the ultimate build-out of SR-91 and
requires the project team to ensure that the footprint accommodates
all stakeholder interests that reach far into the future. The
project team is striving to meet a 42-month schedule by building
on the work from the MIS and interfacing with the decision makers
and resource agencies. This aggressive schedule will allow the
client to meet their planned 2015 delivery date.
RMC, Inc. is playing a major role in ensuring that consensus
is built among all stakeholders on the design concepts from
the beginning, as well as providing schedule and budget control
for the entire project. The RMC, Inc. team is responsible for
preparing the construction staging, utilities, and drainage
concepts for this 10-mile stretch of SR-91.
